The white petals of a datura flower bloom to reveal its green center. The datura hovers at the center of the composition. Behind the flower, craggy red and orange hills stretch out across the bottom three quarters of the canvas. In the distance, Pedernal, painted in shades of blue, rises above the hills. A thin strip of blue sky hangs over the scene.
