At the center of the composition, a burgundy jack-in-the-pulpit blooms. Its spadix, or central spike, rises from inside a white-streaked spathe, which wraps around the spadix. The outside of the spathe is white with pale green streaks. Overlapping green leaves frame the composition, which features a blue and white background that resembles a clouded sky.
