Whitney Archive indicates, "No. 15 in 1931 An American Place exhibition. Painted 1930. Sold to Mr. Philip J. Wickser." Inscription in museum files: "Ranch church – Grey Sky 1930" (unidentified hand, backing board, pencil). Exhibited in 1931, reworked thereafter, and exhibited again in 1931–32.
