A New York cityscape with a bright blue river running through its center. In the foreground is the near bank of the river, with numerous tall buildings in tones of gray and brown. Boats float along the river from the left to right side of the composition. In the background, the far bank of the river is visible, its buildings obscured and softened by atmospheric haze. Stretching above is a thin strip of grayish pink sky. Numerous smokestacks are visible throughout the composition.
