General Remarks
Whitney Archive, Abiquiú Notebooks indicate, "Exam. at Mrs. Weiner's (formerly Alma Morganthau Wertheim) apartment, March 1946. . . . No signature. On back: Intimate Gallery label, 'Red Canna' (1924). 3rd Exhibition. Feb. 11–Mar. 11. 50 Recent Paintings by Georgia O'Keeffe [not verified]. Handsome, Red, yellow and purple. Needs cleaning. Note: The third exhibition at the Intimate Gal. was in 1926. There is no catalogue of this [1926] exhibition but it is probable that the picture was painted in 1925 and not 1924 as stated on the label. Owned Mrs. Paul L. Wiener." Whitney Archive, Downtown Gallery Archive, Abiquiú Notebooks date 1925. Dated 1925/1928. (Source: Lynes, 1999)
