Design layers: The work is executed with fluid, tipped, or brushed watercolor on a dry paper support with pools of dense media.
Surface Coating: There is no varnish on this work's surface.
Framing, Backing, and Hanging Hardware: The frame is whitewashed maple with secondary basswood backing strainer and Optium AR acrylic Amiran Single layer optically coated glass. There is an 8-ply Rising Rag window with a 4-ply backing mat taped to the glazing. There is an acid-free FC Board and/or Microchamber corrugated insulated backing.
The work is planar overall, with only a few isolated lifted edges. Areas of dense paint application and pooling have aggregated, fine, cupped craquelure of thick glossy paint that is susceptible to cleaving and flaking, as well as pinpoint losses. All paints in these areas have been examined and are currently stable. The paper support has numerous fibers and other inclusions. A drip has been blotted from the surface near the lower center. There is some burnishing of the surface around this drip stain.
