MAM catalogue card also states that John Marin Jr., son of artist John Marin, but according to corresponce between registrar and catalogue raisonne researcher Barbara Buhler Lynes in January/February 1994, this is incorrect; Lynes found no records to indicate that Wehr was not the first owner, and registrar thinks that this is a mix-up with the Marin watercolor that Wehr also gave to the museum (M1957.19).
